To study the characteristics of soil fertility in five sub-production areas of the eastern foot of Helan Mountain，based on 18 wineries bases，the paper analyzed the characteristics of fertility of soil pH，organic matter，nitrogen，phosphorus，potassium and total salt in 0 ～ 60 cm depth.The differences in soil fertility among different sub-production areas and depths were studied by using factor analysis and cluster analysis.The results showed that the average value of soil pH was 8.56，which was strongly alkaline.The average contents of soil organic matter，total nitrogen and total phosphorus were 10.81，0.60 and 0.54 g·kg-1 respectively，which were at a relatively low level in China. There were significant differences in soil fertility among the five sub-producing areas； with the increase of soil depth，fertility decreased.Through cluster analysis it was found that the soil fertility of 18 wineries bases could be divided into five categories.In terms of soilfertility，Jinshan region ranks first，followed by Yinbei region，Qingtongxia region，Hongsibao region and Yongning region.This study provided a theoretical basis for fertilizing orchard soil and dividing of wine grape production area.
